Maureen Durning is the co-author of the comprehensive Strengthening Families training manual: STRONG: Teaching the Strengthening Families Protective Factor Framework to Parents and Professionals. Maureen is known for creating trainings that are effective, engaging, fun, informative, and powerful. She has years of experience in parenting education, health promotion, child abuse prevention, and training development. She and her associate Jane Zink are co-authors of the Strengthening Families Training Toolbox, the Strengthening Families Intermediate Training Manual, and the Strengthening Families Parent Workshop Manual. 

From 2005 to 2013 Maureen worked for the Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children, as the Strengthening Families Project Specialist. At Idaho AEYC she was coordinator of the Strengthening Families National Network of Toolbox Trainers and the IdahoSTARS Strengthening Families Specialization process, a broad, deep, and personal exploration of the Strengthening Families framework for child care providers. She and Jane have provided training and consultation to many local and national agencies and have trained trainers nationwide.  They have presented at numerous Idaho and national conferences.

Prior to moving to Idaho, Maureen lived and worked in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she and her husband Carl raised their two daughters. There she was the parent program manager for Healthy Moms and Babes, a health promotion outreach program, and was the manager of the Cincinnati Public Schools Parents as Teachers program. She was also active as a La Leche League Leader and a Girl Scout leader and trainer. Maureen is a certified master trainer and instructor of trainers through Girl Scouts USA. She has certifications in Parents as Teachers, Active Parenting, the Nurturing Parent Program, and Stewards of Children, Darkness to Light.
